Onward to 2015

It's that time again when I reflect on the year that's nearly over. Lots of health issues brought me down this past year. I wasn't nearly as productive in any aspect of my life as I would have liked to be. My grandmother on Mom's side of the family passed away in late August and that was also a big blow to take.

I started a new series with Siren Publishing in 2014. I plan on continuing with it, but I have made the decision to step away from erotic romance for the most part. I want to concentrate on mainstream romance, and other non-romance related writing projects which as of late have fallen to the side. That doesn't mean that I will stop writing erotic romance all-together, but it won't be the sole thing that I write.

Let's all hope for a great new year! Have a great one and see you in 2015!

Barbecue and Pillow Talk(Opposites 3) on Pre-order!

The third installment in my Opposites series is now available for pre-order. It releases officially on December 27th! Check out the blub and story excerpt below. A more spicy excerpt can be read on the Siren page. Note: Each release in this series can be read alone.

Blurb: Ben Charmer's life up to now hasn't gone the way he figured it would. After years of hiding in the closet married to a woman, he's now on his own after an amicable divorce.

Dave Heatherington once had it all, or so he'd initially thought. Caught up in a nasty past relationship that's ended, he's left scarred and bitter.  Starting life anew in a small town, he's bought a large Victorian dilapidated inn that needs a lot of work.

Ben's great with his hands. Doing the work on the inn itself isn't too hard, but being in the company of the inn's hot new owner proves to be a bigger challenge than he'd initially thought.

Things quickly heat up as the two men confide in each other about their mutual pasts and hidden secrets. For one thing, Ben isn't out. But an upcoming event might change all that and their lives forever.

Story Excerpt: Being out of work couldn’t have come at a worst time. With his wife and kids gone, Ben was well aware that he had too much time to sit around and think. With a little savings tucked away he wasn’t worried about money yet. Something would come along, it always did. His ability to work well with his hands came in handy since it meant being able to work at many things. Sitting back staring mindlessly at the TV, he scanned the channels looking for something interesting to watch. He settled on Three’s Company. It was the episode about the big misunderstanding. Nobody could do physical comedy like the actors on that show. God, he loved Ritter!

Sitting in just his boxer shorts and a white T-shirt, he tried not to think about the stressors that had come into his life. He desperately needed to unwind, and when the phone rang, he debated whether or not he would answer it or let the machine take it. On the third ring he reached out and picked up the receiver. “Hello.”

“Hey,” said the other voice on the end of the line. “It’s Craig Lindsay.”

His cheeks turned red when he thought about the attraction he’d had for that guy. “Hey, what’s up?” He hadn’t the sweetest clue as to why Craig would be calling him. He was listed in the book and that’s how he guessed that Craig got his number.

“The usual hard work and slugging it out,” Craig replied with an added laugh. “But I do have a specific reason to call you. There’s a guy who’s new to town. His name is Dave Heatherington.”

“No thanks,” Ben said quickly, cutting him off. “I’m not interested and in no way ready to date or make my private life known.”

“Hold off, man. I’m not trying to set you up.”

Ben sucked in a deep breath and exhaled slowly feeling stupid. “Sorry, I’m a little on edge.”

“I guess you are. Maybe I should call back at another time?”

“No, I’m fine. Shoot.”

“He bought an inn right here in town and it’s in dire need of renovations. He came into the bakery this morning and we got to talking about it. He needs help and I immediately thought of you. So I suggested to him that I’d give you a call with his details.”

“Give me his number. I’ll give him a call.” He reached for a pen and piece of paper. He jotted down the name and number of the inn’s owner and thanked Craig for calling. He still felt like a douche, but figured that Craig would overlook it.

“Ben,” Craig said. “If you need to talk or anything you can come around. I’m here pretty much all of the time or up in the apartment. I know how things can be. Just sayin’.”

“The divorce came through. Rebecca’s gone off with her man and she took the kids. I knew it was going to happen, but it’s going to take me a bit to adjust.”

“I didn’t know. I’m sorry to hear that. Like I said, if you ever need to talk or just a listening ear.”

Craig sounded genuine and Ben knew he was a stand-up guy. Talking however, he wasn’t sure that he was at that point yet. “Thanks. Thanks for offering. I’ll keep that in mind.” He glanced down at the snippet of paper in his hand. It was potential work, and at this time what else did he have to keep his mind and body occupied. He picked up the phone. “Dave Heatherington,” he said to the air around him. “Definitely not from these parts.”

* * * *

“It isn’t so bad,” Dave said, standing in the middle of the rather outdated country-style kitchen with its red and white gingham curtains. He put the boxes from the bakery down on the island before sitting down himself. Binging on starchy carbs and high-quality coffee would help ease his suffering momentarily, but he had to face the fact that he’d bought a bitter lemon. Firing up the coffeemaker, he glanced at the yet-to-be-opened boxes wondering how fast he could eat two cupcakes. When his cell phone vibrated against his thigh, he nearly jumped out of his skin. “Hello, this is Dave,” he answered, doing his best to sound nice and pleasant.

“Hey,” said the male voice on the other end of the line. “Craig Lindsay gave me your name and number. He said that you were looking for someone to do renovations?”

“That was quick, but yes I am indeed. You are?”

“Ben Charmer. That was extremely rude of me. I should have introduced myself up front before saying anything else.”

If you could judge a man’s looks based on his voice alone, Dave guessed that the man speaking was gorgeous. Already his mind was taken away from his problems as he listened to Ben speak. “That’s okay. How much did Craig tell you?”

“Just that you bought an inn that needed work done with it.”

“You’re experienced?” He bit down on his bottom lip right after the words left his mouth. It had been far too long since he’d had a man in his bed. “I mean, you know what you’re doing.” He cleared his throat as he waited for Ben to respond. His mind had long gone far into the gutter making him feel desperate and pathetic in so many ways.

“I do good work. I work hard. I’m very good with my hands.”

“You can drop by on Monday to see what needs to be done for yourself. That’s the best thing to do.”

“Great,” Ben replied. There was a pause. “The address?”

Dave gave it to him before ending the call. When he placed the phone back in his pocket, he shook his head. “You’d think you never talked to a man before. Get your mind out of your pants, Heatherington. You’re starting to come across as being cheap!”

Sweet Honesty(Opposites 2) Excerpt

Sweet Honesty which is the second installment in my Opposites series for Siren Publishing is now up on their site for pre-order. For those who read the first book this is Craig's story. I'm posting the story excerpt and blurb here, but for the adult except you can click the order link. Warning: Most likely not work safe as it's rather spicy! Enjoy!

Blurb: [Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative May-December Romance, M/M, HEA]

They hit it off from the start. As the chemistry between them starts to sizzle, they both realize they share common life goals even though in many ways they're opposites.

When sudden tragedy strikes. Craig is forced to face his past. From tragedy comes a chance to do the very thing he's always wanted. When offered the family bakery business, Craig jumps at the opportunity and comes to the conclusion that all things are possible with lots of hard work, even if he is unsure about certain things. He turns to Glenn, who has a great head for business. Glenn becomes his rock. The future's looking bright. All things are possible with lots of hard work and the right man at his side.

Story Excerpt: “I’ve been thinking about you,” Glenn said.

“Have you?” Craig walked slowly along as they made their way across the vast expanse of Terrence’s property. The place really was beautiful. It was paradise in a swanky part of the city. Of course Terrence could afford it and more if he wanted it. It was a privilege that came along with immense wealth. “I haven’t had much time to think about anything. Heading back home is going to be a struggle. I have mixed feelings about it. I know facing the past isn’t going to be easy even with Dad no longer in the picture.” He felt bad that his dad had died. After all the crap that man had put him through, he was still Craig’s father. Like it or not, that did stand for something. Without that man, he wouldn’t be here. He wouldn’t have been born, plain and simple.

“I can’t imagine how it will be for you. You seem like you’re a strong person. I don’t know you that well. This is our third time meeting?”

“I think so.”

“This isn’t the right time to make a move on you. I’d never be that tacky. What I’m trying and wanting to say is that when you get back, I’d like to see you again. I want us to get to know each other better. That’s if you’re interested?”

“I’d like that.” Glenn was a nice guy. They did come from highly different backgrounds. One thing he didn’t want was to jump in bed with him right away. Not that Glenn wasn’t attractive, he was. For possibly the first time in his young life he wanted more than just a fling between the sheets. Something inside him had started to change. Maybe it was because he had witnessed what real love between two men was like seeing Danny and Terrence together? They’d made their relationship work despite the hardships between them. They didn’t allow anything or anybody to bring them down. He held the highest respect for both of them. “But I’m not sure how long I’ll be gone.” There were also things she had to take care of before leaving the city. Danny would look in on his apartment. He had a few plants that would require watering. That wasn’t a big deal. He’d have to take leave from work. He wasn’t sure how that would sit with his boss. If it came down to it, there were other places to work. Lots of places were hiring dancers.

“I’ll be here when you get back. Feel free to call or text me anytime. I’m a good listener.”

Craig couldn’t remember ever meeting a man like Glenn before. All of the guys that he’d been involved with one way or another in the past had been young and immature. Glenn wasn’t either. He wasn’t old. He guessed Glenn to be nearing forty give or take a few years. This man had direction in his life. And though they’d never spoken about finances, he had already guessed that Glenn also had a lot of money. “That’s good. I’ll do that when I get a chance. I’m leaving tomorrow. I want to attend the funeral. It will be awkward as hell, but I feel it’s the right thing to do. I’m pushing myself to go through with it.”

“At times we all have to do that. It isn’t easy doing things that we don’t like, but it can be good for the soul.”

This man was deep. Craig mulled over what Glenn had said. He agreed with him. Like it or not, some things had to be done. “I’m glad we met. You’re not like the guys I’ve had in my life.”

Glenn smiled warmly. They continued walking. “How so?”

“You’re mature.”

“As in old?” Glenn raised one brow as they came to a wooden bench. He motioned for them to sit.

“No, that’s totally not what I meant. Talking to you is different. So many times I feel like I’m alone in the world. Sure, I’ve talked with guys before, but it’s like they aren’t listening or interested in anything I have to say. You probably think I’m not making a lick of sense.”

“You make perfect sense. Maturity comes with experience, I like to think. I’ve lived a full life so far. I haven’t much to complain about. At times things have been extremely difficult, but you have to trudge on. Giving up was and still is never an option.”

“Sound words to live by.” Chatting with Glenn made him feel better. When he felt Glenn touch his thigh, he couldn’t help but return a wide grin at the man who was now staring directly at him. They kissed. It was unlike any kiss Craig had before. It was gentle and sweet. It left him feeling incredibly warm. This moment was one to remember. He’d never forget it.

My Adventure in Self-publishing

A couple years ago my journey into self-publishing started with a novella  that I wrote that was a little outside the box. I submitted it to a couple of publishers. One rejected it on content, and the other wanted a major rewrite that would have taken the whole purpose of the story away. I sat on it for a while wondering what to do with it. After much thinking I thought about self-publishing it.

At first I think I went into it with blinders on. Many authors of m/m and erotic romance had already done quite well publishing their own work. There was a certain allure about it that drew me in. I think it was the control. I would decide on the cover, work with my husband with the edits and formatting, and release it when I felt it was ready to be placed out there. It was an experiment.

My husband helped me a lot. He's brutal when it comes to giving me honest feedback with my writing. He's computer savvy and formatting came pretty easily for him. I did seek out a cover artist who did a great job. She took my suggestions and it really was exactly what I wanted.

When everything was done, I uploaded the book to various sales sites. Sales were decent, but nothing that I would go around bragging about. This was a couple years ago and sales have trickled since then. It's selling, but not hitting the bestseller charts.

After that I published another novella that again was a little bit outside the box. I also published a couple of short stories. Surprisingly, it was the short stories that sold really well. I expected my longer work to sell better than the short stuff. Go figure!

The last thing I self-published was a collection of my short stories that initially I was only going to put into print to use for promo purposes such as giveaways. That also led to an e edition. All of those stories were already available for individual sale.

Did self-publishing meet my expectations? Yes and no. I honestly expected to do better. Do I blame self-publishing? No. My work seems to be hit or miss with readers. Some really like it while others really hate it. Everything I have written can be found on Amazon, All Romance, Barnes & Noble, and Bookstrand(Shameless Plug).

Do I have advice for anyone wanting to self-publish? Yes. But don't release your work until you're sure it's absolutely ready. Don't rush it. It's better to put out a quality product first rather than suffer terrible reviews telling you on how you should have got an editor. And get a decent cover. It really is worth paying a talented artist to do it for you unless you are good at it yourself like some are. This is the first thing readers will see when they come across your book. First impressions matter.

Will I self-publish again? Yes. I plan on self-publishing more short stories along with some other works that are longer including a MMF menage. Overall, I enjoy the process.

Coming Soon: Sweet Honesty(Opposites 2)

I am pleased to announce that the second installment in my Opposites series with Siren Publishing will be released in early October. For those who read When You Least Expect It, this will be Craig's story. Craig was introduced as Danny's best friend. Sweet Honesty is set mostly in the small town where Craig grew up. An unexpected tragedy draws him back to his roots and that's all I am going to say about that *smiles*

If you haven't checked out the first novella in the series, it's available on Amazon, Bookstrand, and Barnes and Noble.

When You Least Expect It blurb:  [Siren Allure ManLove: Erotic Alternative Romance, M/M, foot fetish, HEA]
Danny Lyon has never had much luck at romance. After a failed relationship drives him from his hometown, he finds his way into the city only to discover that life doesn't often turn out how you'd like.
Working at a strip club, The Treasure Chest certainly isn't his dream job, but it pays well. Everything is going along fine until he meets Terrence LeBrec, an older man who shows up one night out of the blue. Terrence is rich, laid back, and as the chemistry between them erupts, it also surprises Danny that he's attracted to a man who otherwise isn't his type.
Terrence only went to The Treasure Chest to pass away time. He never expected to meet anyone, but when Danny takes the stage, he's totally taken with the young man who he knows nothing about. He has to meet him. There's something definitely between them. Terrence can't deny it. They have a connection that he can't let go. One hookup leads him to want more.
It doesn't take a lot of time for Danny to realize how different their lives really are. Why would a guy like Terrence who has everything going for him be interested in a guy like him? It doesn't make sense. They come from different worlds—perhaps too different.
Will what brought them together tear them apart? They're opposites in every way possible. Will love conquer all?

Series Highlight: Lust at First Sight Plus a Giveaway!

The Idea: I love reading about first time meeting between hot guys in m/m. I love that initial attraction they have when they first see and interact with each other. I think it's sexy and hot to be brutally honest. So when brainstorming one day, I thought about writing a series of shots about just that! Each installment is completely standalone. Each chronicles a couples first meeting and what comes after. You can use your imagination there! So far there are three short stories with more to come. This isn't instalove either. Not that I mind instalove. I think in the right story with right characters it works. This is lust first and foremost. The love comes later.

Two people will win a copy of Nick & Matchim(Lust at First Sight 3). All you need to do is leave a comment with your email address so I can contact you.

Check out the blurbs below for each. The series is available from Evernight Publishing, Amazon, Bookstrand, All Romance, and Barnes and Noble.

Sean & Toby:

First time meetings can lead to many things, but when you meet the one guy you're automatically attracted to—the chemistry sizzles. Strangers or not, it doesn't matter. It's lust at first sight and anything's game...

Sean's mundane job at a call center leads him to make some changes in his routine life. Getting fit is one of his goals and after joining a local gym, he meets cute and twinky Toby.

Toby nearly knocks the breath out of Sean with not only his cute looks, but also his wit and charm. Their attraction to each other is instant and Sean can't stop thinking about Toby and his perfect butt.

Things quickly heat up between them, but Toby isn't who Sean thought he was. Looks can be very deceiving. There's another side to Toby's personality. Sean's definitely met his match!

Tyler & Marco:

First time meetings can lead to many things, but when you meet the one guy you're automatically attracted to—the chemistry sizzles. Strangers or not, it doesn't matter. It's lust at first sight and anything's game...

Shy and socially awkward Tyler has been watching the construction site across from his house secretly lusting for the hot guys that work there, but when he finally comes face to face with the hot and sexy Italian, Marco, it's lust at first sight! Marco is everything Tyler has ever dreamed of in a man, and his complete opposite in every way possible.

Marco's life is all about hard work. From the moment he left home just after high school, he'd forged his own way in the world without ever knowing real love. But when he meets the cute guy who lives across the street from his work, he instantly feels something sizzling between them. But Marco isn't out and not sure if he's ready to tell the world he's gay, or even his own family.

Both guys yearn for something more in life and after a couple rounds of hot sex, and another chance meeting, they come to see that possibly there is something more between them than just lust.

Nick & Matchim:

First time meetings can lead to many things, but when you meet the one guy you're automatically attracted to—the chemistry sizzles. Strangers or not, it doesn't matter. It's lust at first sight and anything's game...

Stuck in a world full of cannibalistic corpses after a mysterious flu-like virus kills off the majority of the world's population, Nick Sparrow has learned to survive in a world where the dead outnumber the living.

Matchim Chase has been surviving on his own for the past couple of weeks. When he's suddenly surrounded by a horde of zombies, he's thankful to have a handsome stranger come to his rescue.

Holed up together in a motel room and subsequently in an abandoned house, the connection they form is instant. They find what they need in each other. In a world torn apart they come together sharing their pasts and hopes for the future. Living in the moment is all they have because tomorrow might never come.

What do you like in a romance?

Sitting at my computer today, I was thinking about plot-lines for future stories. I write pretty much everything(MM,MMM,MFM,MMF,MF). Like everyone, I have my likes and dislikes though which I have outlined below:

Dislikes
-Weak females/men. I really dislike female/male characters who only have one purpose in life which is to please their man.
-Alpha Assholes: To me there is a fine line between alpha and asshole. So many books cross that line into an area that makes me wonder why these women/men fall for these guys who treat them like crap. What is that all about?
-Great dialogue. If it's funny and witty, I love it. Flat and unrealistic is a turn off for me.
-An author writing about something they know nothing about. It really does show at times.
Likes:
-Strong independent woman/men.
-Good sex scenes. I admire any author that can write a sex scene that takes me into the story.
-Great dialogue. If it's funny and witty, I love it. Flat and unrealistic is a turn off for me.
-Original plots.

So, what are your likes and dislikes? What's hot for you as a reader? What's the current trends in romance? I admit to being bad for now keeping up with the what's what. I'm interested in knowing what you think.

A Siren Erotic Romance
Excerpt: He’d had his share of hot guys, but each always came with a hefty price tag. Terrence could easily afford them since money wasn’t an issue. He could afford to support a dozen rent boys if he wanted to. Yet, here he was on a Friday night, alone, gawking at some guy who was at least ten years his junior or more.
Terrence finished the last of his beer. He glanced at his watch. It was a little past midnight. The smart thing to do would be to head home and get a good night’s sleep. The bad thing would be to stay and keep drinking. He decided to stay.

* * * *

Danny readjusted himself and headed straight to the bar after his number ended. He wasn’t much of a drinker, but an ice-cold cola would hit the spot nicely.
“Looking good up there,” Keith, the bartender, said. He handed Danny a cola with lots of ice. Keith knew how he liked it.
A bunch of guys ogled him to his left. He glanced toward them and they giggled like a bunch of schoolgirls. “Twinks,” he muttered to Keith. “Are they even old enough to be in here?”
Keith nodded. “Barely, but yeah, they’re legal. I checked their IDs.”
Danny couldn’t risk the temptation to play it up a little bit. Plus, it was good for business to cavort with the clientele. That’s how the extra cash was made. He walked over to the group of guys. “Having fun, boys?” he asked.
“Lots,” replied a dark-haired, fair-skinned cutie in black-rimmed glasses. “You’re a great…dancer,” he stammered. His eyes strayed to Danny’s crotch. He licked his lips as a rosy glow appeared on his cheeks.
“You’re all muscles,” gushed a blond, his steely green eyes a sharp contrast to his dark, tanned skin. “I adore men with muscles. May I?” he asked, gesturing to Danny’s bulging right bicep.
“Sure thing, sexy,” Danny replied, flexing for him. “Touch away.”
“And that chest,” said a goth-looking guy, the third in the group. “A chest that begs to be stroked and worshipped.” He reached forward and ran his hands across Danny’s chest. “I’m Jax.”
“I’m Danny, boys,” he replied. With three sets of hands exploring him, he had to work his magic. Now if he could lure each of them into having a lap dance, the night would be perfect. He kept telling himself to stay focused on the money and how much he needed it.

* * * *

Terrence looked on with much amusement. It was the cute dancer, the one who grabbed his interest, now surrounded by a bunch of horny guys. This was better than any show onstage.
“And how are you?”
Terrence turned to see another dancer standing next to his table. “I’m good, and yourself?” He wasn’t interested in getting an answer, but it was natural for him to be polite.
“I’m great. I’m Craig. I noticed you sitting here all by your lonesome. I thought I’d offer you my company.”
The dancer was cute, but not his type. He was much too boyish-looking. “Sure, Craig. Can I get you anything from the bar?”
Craig smiled. “That’d be nice. I’ll head over and get a drink. Would you like another?”
“Sure, that’d be great.” Terrence reached into his wallet. He handed Craig a twenty. “Who’s that?” he asked, pointing to the other dancer.
“That’s Danny. Cute, isn’t he?”
“He’s something,” Terrence replied.
“But I’m much more fun, trust me. I’ll get you that beer. I won’t be long.”
When Craig returned, it wasn’t long before Terrence felt Craig’s hand on his thigh. His throat went dry as he reached for his beer. It wasn’t that he didn’t find Craig slightly attractive, but Craig set off an alarm within him. This guy wasn’t looking for anything more than an easy ride.
“Like I said, I’m fun.” Craig squeezed his leg harder. “I could do so many awesome things to you. I bet you’d like that.”
“Actually, I’d like you to introduce me to Danny. That’s his name, right?”
“Danny?” Craig looked stunned, and a tad deflated. “I can do that.”
Terrence hated to slight the guy, but he wasn’t interested at all.

“Bud over there is looking to meet you,” Craig said, tapping Danny on the shoulder.
Danny, lost in his own twink-induced dream world, turned to Craig and placed one arm around his friend’s shoulders. “Those three are so fucking cute. They want to take me home with them. All three, can you imagine that? I’d never do it, but I’m totally flattered.”
“You wouldn’t.” Craig rolled his eyes. “You being so good and all. So, dude over there wants to meet you. Best of luck.” Craig strutted off without looking back, even though Danny called out to him. He excused himself from the threesome, but promised he’d be back before the night ended.
The stranger greeted him first with a nod. He smiled as Danny approached him. “Hey, I hope you’re enjoying the show.” It was a lame attempt at breaking the ice, but he couldn’t think of anything else to say.
“It’s great. Your dancing’s fantastic.”
The guy looked about thirty-five. His dark black hair grayed at the temples, and a five o’clock shadow adorned his square-cut jaw. He was handsome, without a doubt.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you in here before,” Danny said.
“It’s my first time. I was passing by. I thought I’d drop in for a drink. I’m Terrence.” He extended his hand, and they shook.
“Danny.”
“I’d like to request a private lap dance with you,” Terrence said. “I’m assuming that’s done here?”
Danny nodded. “Sure, follow me and we’ll get down to it.”
The room used for lap dances had been sectioned off from the rest of the club to allow maximum privacy. With the dimmed lighting and mood music, it served its purpose well.
“You can sit there,” Danny directed. “The rules are…well, there aren’t any, really.” He smiled. “Relax and enjoy.”
Terrence sat back and looked up at Danny. His steely gray eyes moved up and down Danny’s body. It was obvious he liked what he saw a lot.

Thrifty Me

I'll be the first to admit that me and my husband live on a tight budget. Usually this blog is all about writing. Mainly I post promo and on occasion I have guests authors on here talking about their latest releases. This post however is going to be about something non-writing related.

I love shopping at Goodwill and other thrift stores! I confess that it gives me a thrill because it's really like a treasure hunt. It's the same for me when I also shop discount stores that mainly sell what others stores could not. I also believe in recycling and up-cycling. Below are two pictures of a scrap quilt made completely of fabric scraps, and cotton items that were no longer of use. I also backed the quilt with a cotton curtain panel that I found at a thrift store.

Shopping at a dollar store this weekend past, I also found some great buys such as dish liquid for a dollar. I also purchased underwear for two dollars a pair. The funny thing was that they were better quality than two name brands I've bought in the past that fell apart at the waist shortly after!

This is more so a rambling rant. Waste not want not. That's been my motto for some time now. I'd love to hear from others on how they save money, recycle, and up-cycle. Pass those tips on!

Featuring Kaley Colter

A Fellow Siren author, Kaley Colter has a book out. Check out the blurb and give it a try. It's a guaranteed hot read!

Blurb: Ellie Matthews is a painfully shy caterer whose life has devolved since she was a teenager, when her mother died and her father abandoned her following his remarriage. She was left with no one but her controlling, manipulative stepbrother, Marcus, who has treated her like his personal slave ever since.

Now, Ellie is desperate to get out from under Marcus’s thumb. When she arrives at the engineering firm Novum Energy for a catering job, Nick Richardson, the president of the company, is all too aware of Ellie’s exploitation at the hands of her stepbrother. He is determined to help her and keep her safe. But more than that, he is determined to make her his. And he can only hope that he will be able to help her overcome her past and convince her that she belongs to him—body, heart, and soul.

[Siren Classic: Erotic Contemporary Romance, consensual BDSM elements, spanking, sex toys, anal sex, HEA]

Story Excerpt: Calm yourself, girl.
Ellie Matthews looked down at the platters of food she was carrying, took a deep breath, straightened her back, and walked into the conference room. The meeting was apparently over, as everybody was chatting casually and leaning back in their chairs. For that, she was very thankful, because if she had walked into that room in the middle of the meeting and everybody had stopped and turned their heads to stare at her like some kind of intruder, she probably would’ve had a heart attack and fallen right down on the floor.
As she walked towards the center table, she tried her very best to avoid making eye contact with anyone, which turned out to be exceptionally difficult given the fact that she could feel several pairs of eyes staring straight at her. She cringed, knowing they were all looking her up and down. Appraising her. Determining her worth. And, of course, everybody in the room just had to be a man. There wasn’t a single woman—not one potential ally that could deflect some of the testosterone.
Why aren’t there more women in engineering? Somebody should really do something about that.
She quickly set the platters down on the table, then spun around, reminded herself that it might be inappropriate to break into a run, and walked out of the room with what she proudly considered to be a very reasonable speed. As soon as she was through the doorway and out of sight, she leaned against the wall and sighed in relief, reaching up to touch her cheeks and knowing from how warm they were that she must look extremely flushed. She winced when she thought of how all those engineers must see her—a shy little caterer who couldn’t help but blush every time she’s in their presence.
She was shy—she would give them that. But that didn’t mean she was a coward. In fact, she liked to think that she was rather feisty. A couple of her friends in high school had even called her scrappy, and she had very proudly borne that label ever since. And besides, she had never even met any of these hotshot engineers before. This was her first time catering for Novum Energy. Maybe if they hired her again, she would be more confident. Maybe they’d all take back what they initially thought of her and be amazed at how calm, cool, and collected she was. Maybe she wouldn’t even blush.
Doubt it.
Ellie sighed and made her way back to the office kitchen. When she saw her partner standing there waiting for her, clearly displeased, she smoothed her fingers over the black apron tied around her waist and tried to prepare herself for whatever complaint was coming.
“Christ, Ellie, what took you so long? It’s not that difficult of a task. You walk to the conference room. You set the platters down. You come back.”
Ellie gritted her teeth. She had to work very, very hard to restrain herself from calling him a bastard and telling him to go to hell. The unfortunate fact of the matter was that she needed him. He had paid for all the catering supplies and found them the client. That was the deal. He would set her up with the equipment she needed and advertise their business, she would prepare the food, and he would give her a cut of the money. And she needed the money. So for that reason, a mental image of decking him in the face would have to do.
“Look, Marcus, I waited outside for a minute or two because I wasn’t sure that the meeting was over. I didn’t want to interrupt. Because, I don’t know, that would be rude.”
“It doesn’t matter, Ellie. I don’t pay you to think about what would be a polite time to give the clients their food. I pay you to give them their food when I tell you to give them their food. The client requested that the food be brought into the conference room at noon. So that’s what you do. Stop being so goddamn stubborn and do what you’re told.”
Ellie dug her fingernails into her palms, furious. “Why don’t you just deliver the food yourself, then?”
Marcus folded his arms over his chest and smiled. “Because you are part of the service. My clients will come to expect their food to be delivered to them by a decent-looking woman. I like to think that they’ll appreciate it as a display of traditional gender roles. You’re the woman. You serve the food. It’s that simple.”
Ellie looked down at herself. She was wearing a red, satiny dress that fell to her mid thighs and showed an uncomfortable amount of cleavage.
“So that’s why you have me wearing this ridiculous dress?”
He smirked. “Correct.”
“I’m not a piece of meat, Marcus.”
“Oh, I beg to differ. Not the best-looking piece of meat, but a piece of meat nonetheless.”
Ellie swallowed hard and willed herself to hold back her tears.
Hold yourself together. Do not let him see you cry.
She grabbed her sweater and threw it around her shoulders. “Well, now that I’ve delivered the food I hope I’m allowed to put on a sweater and go to the bathroom.”
“Fine, go,” he said, flicking his hand at her contemptuously. “But you better be sure to return to ‘uniform’ when you go back in to collect the trays.”

Adult Excerpt: “You want it hard, don’t you?” Nick asked in that low, deep voice of his as he continued delicately kissing her breast, closer and closer to her nipple.
Ellie nodded vigorously, arching her back to force her breast harder against his mouth and crying out in frustration when he pulled his face away. But before she could even look to see what he was going to do next, he captured her nipple between his index finger and thumb and pinched hard, tearing a moan from Ellie’s lips.
He started rolling her nipple in between his fingers, and the resulting soreness was a delicious mixture of pleasure and pain that put Ellie in a frenzy. When he released her nipple, she almost descended into a panic, needing him to touch her breast, desperate to be relieved of the tight ache at the center. And then he wrapped his lips around the stiff peak and sucked hard. Ellie opened her mouth in a silent scream.
Her pussy was clamping down in a slow, steady rhythm that was making her go wild. Every time he tugged and pulled at her nipple, she felt her sex throb in response, and after a mere few moments of feeling his mouth on her breast she was so wet that her thighs were sticky with her juices.
“Please…” Ellie whispered. “I need…”
“What is it, kitten?” Nick asked, releasing her nipple from his mouth and licking the stiff peak with the flat of his tongue. Ellie moaned and squeezed her thighs together. “Your pussy’s aching, isn’t it?” Ellie nodded, biting down on her bottom lip. “You want me to get rid of the ache, don’t you baby?”
“Yes,” she breathed. “Please, yes.”
Nick sat up on the bed and hooked his fingers in the waistband of her panties, drawing them down her legs and tossing them aside. He grabbed her thighs and forced them wide apart, groaning when he looked down at her pussy.
Ellie blushed at being fully exposed beneath his gaze and tried to press her legs together, but Nick would have none of it. He held them firmly apart, barely even noticing her efforts to close them.
“You’re so wet,” he whispered.
When he let go of her legs so he could touch her pussy, Ellie reflexively clamped them shut. Nick jerked his head up and gave her a stern look.
“Spread your legs, Ellie.” She hesitated. “Now.” When she only opened them slightly, he reached out and gave her a sharp smack on the side of her ass. “Wider, Ellie.”
The way he commanded her made liquid fire shoot through her lower belly. She was hurting for his touch so badly that she abandoned her modesty and threw her legs as far apart as they would go, feeling deliciously naughty at completely baring herself under his gaze.
“That’s it, kitten,” he praised. “I’m just going to make you feel good.”
He slid his fingers between the slick folds of her pussy, and the pleasure was so intense that she almost clamped her legs shut again.
“Yes,” Ellie breathed. “Oh my God…”
She was clawing at the mattress as he continued working his fingers between her slippery folds, crying out with pleasure and begging him to keep going. She started jutting out her hips to try and force his fingers into her dripping cunt, but he made her wait longer. He was teasing her mercilessly, rubbing closer and closer around her opening until she was whimpering with need.
“I can’t take it… Please…I need it inside.”
“You want me to fuck you with my fingers, don’t you, baby?”
“Yesss…”
“How badly do you want it?”
“Real bad,” Ellie cried. She started grabbing at her nipples, desperate to ease her throbbing pussy. “Real bad. Real bad. Please, let me have it.”
Nick rammed his index finger all the way into her pussy. Ellie screamed. He pulled his finger out, added a second, and shoved both of them inside. Ellie screamed again.
She couldn’t remember anything feeling so good. Everything became fuzzy, and the only thing she could focus on was Nick’s fingers plunging violently in and out of her pussy. She wanted more, needed more, and started slamming herself down on his fingers every time he thrust them inside. She could feel something amazing building up inside her—a hot, achy pressure that she wanted to explode through her lower belly.
“That’s it, baby. Feels good, doesn’t it?”
He was finger-fucking her hard, and at a brutally fast pace. She could feel the walls of her pussy squeezing him, desperate to draw him further inside, desperate to be filled and stretched. She closed her eyes, losing herself in the pleasure, and all of a sudden felt Nick pry open her lips with his tongue and delve into her mouth. She was thrashing on the bed, moaning into his mouth and feeling herself getting closer and closer to falling off the edge.
Ellie came hard, screaming. She grabbed the back of Nick’s neck and forced his tongue deeper into her mouth as wave after wave of pleasure shot through her body. And through it all, Nick continued his relentless assault on her pussy, steadily thrusting his fingers in and out of her as the walls of her canal clamped down again and again.
