While the last year has not been productive for me writing wise due to illness, I have over the last couple of months started to write a lot more. I am working on multiple projects and have two new pieces of cover art to share.<br />

Two very different stories, but I think variety is the spice of life. Neutral Shades is coming out sometime in Feb 2018. I Get What I Want is coming out in Jan 2018. I will post updates as I get them such as blurbs and buy links.<br />
<br />
I wish each and everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, Happy Hanukkah or great day if you don't celebrate. Thanks for all the support. See you all in 2018!<br />

<br />
Life: I have been ill a lot these days. I have fibromyalgia. There are days when all I do is stay in bed and sleep. Chronic pain sucks. My writing productivity has been down since those days my brain feels like it's in a fog.<br />
<br />
Writing: I am happen to announce that I have signed for my first gay YA with Evernight Teen. It's a coming of age type story. I am proud of this one and hope it sells many copies. Look for it in February 2018! More details will come as I get them.<br />
<br />
I am working on a few other things. Again updates will come as things happen. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.<br />

<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><strong style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Story Excerpt: </strong></span><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small;">At two in the morning, Sam doubted that anyone would be up to spot them. The town was smallish and glancing around he didn’t see any lights on in the surrounding homes or security cameras in sight. “Let’s get this done.” He pulled a rubber clown mask down over his face and got out of the van. Phil did the same, muttering how much he hated fucking clowns.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Sam walked quietly up the front path with Phil in tow. He went around the side of the house and crossed over the lawn to the patio area where he noted a home security sign on the glass of one of two doors. He immediately looked to his left and spotted a box. He shook his head at the stupidity of the companies that installed these systems. Any burglar worth his salt would know where to look and what to look for. With a quick snip of a couple of wires the system was disengaged and knocked out of service.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Phil pushed a door open after fiddling with the lock and grinned at Sam. In less than a minute he’d been able to pop the lock. Inside, the kitchen was lit only by the dim light over the large stove. The rest of the main floor was cloaked in darkness and shadows as they walked on through to find themselves at the foot of the grand mahogany staircase.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Sam assumed at this late hour everyone would be asleep. Taking two steps at a time, he paused as he reached the upper level to listen for a brief moment and was satisfied when he heard nothing but loud snoring coming from one of the bedrooms.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">“At the end of the hallway,” he said to Phil, his voice just above a whisper. The snoring he’d heard was coming from that room. No one else was supposed to be home but a couple of servants who had their own quarters located away from the house on the grounds. The parents were away for the weekend doing something or other. The details on where they had gone were not known.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Sam opened the bedroom door and eased into the room with Phil behind him. The plan was to use chloroform to knock the senator’s son out long enough to secure him for transport. He moved to the bed and stood over the sleeping figure. Sam pulled the cloth that had been soaked in chloroform from his jacket pocket. With a little struggle, it was done.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">“That didn’t take long,” Phil said. He pulled back the bedclothes and raised a brow when he saw that the senator’s son was dressed only in a pair of white briefs. “Should we dress him first or take him like he is?”</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Tyler Hanson certainly wasn’t a kid. Sam swallowed hard. Not one fucking soul knew about his attraction to cute guys. His encounters had always been planned. He never messed around with any man who didn’t offer him complete discretion. It was just sex with no strings attached, usually in some motel far away from where he lived so there was no chance of anyone spotting him. He never kissed. Kissing was off limits. He did like to fuck. That was his thing. He loved a hot, tight ass. Willing bottoms were plentiful in the online chatrooms he frequented. Sam also loved having his cock sucked. Looking down to see some sexy dude sucking on him was thrilling.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">“Sam?” Phil tapped him on the shoulder. “This isn’t the time to space out, buddy.”</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">“That’s a good idea.” He retrieved a set of sweats along with a pair of sneakers from the closet. With Phil’s help they got Tyler dressed which wasn’t an easy task. Getting him out of the house to the van came with a bit of struggle. Tyler weighed more than he looked. Sam guessed that he worked out since he was lean yet muscular. Without the chloroform, there would have been one hell of a fight.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Phil drove away from the house while Sam used duct tape to secure Tyler’s wrists and ankles. In a moment of not thinking, he reached down and ran his thumb across Tyler’s cheek feeling the smooth, soft skin. He traced his thumb down further over Tyler’s jaw, caressing the light stubble underneath. He sucked in a deep breath and sat back on the floor of the van. Why in the hell did he just do that? He got up and moved to the front of the van before sitting in the passenger’s seat.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px;">

<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "times"; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">“All secure?” Phil asked, keeping his eyes on the road ahead of them.</span></div>

<br />
As some of you may know, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia some months ago after suffering for years with pain and fatigue and not knowing what it was. It took me forever to get a doctor to take me serious and send me to a specialist, but it finally happened.<br />
<br />
I'm linking this article from Chatelaine magazine because I think it's excellent in telling what it's like to have this disease: <a href="http://www.chatelaine.com/health/health-a-z/fibromyalgia/">link</a><br />
<br />
The way I feel varies from day to day, but usually I feel the best in the mornings and by two in the evening it starts to go downhill as the pain sets in along with the fatigue. At that time on days off I usually end up in bed for the rest of the day and night only getting up to use the bathroom or eat and drink.<br />
<br />
The pain is a constant thing at that point. All my muscles and joints along with my skin feels tender and it actually hurts to move or be touched when it's really bad. At this point my face and scalp hurts and I find it hard to bend my fingers.<br />
<br />
I do take Cymbalta for the pain, but it's touch and go though I do think it helps at times.<br />
<br />
I think there is a stigma that comes along with having this. People look at you like you're crazy and they seem to think it can't be as bad as you say it is. So that's really annoying.<br />
<br />
I do manage to work full-time. I get through the days the best I can. I wouldn't want to stop working. It really does keep me going along with writing when I can. Though my productivity writing wise has been way down.<br />
<br />
If you are a sufferer, you are not alone. Remember that.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
It's been a long time since I posted on here. So, I decided to update everyone on what I have been doing.<br />
<br />
First, I got a new job which I actually like. It's full-time and takes up a lot of my time. That and on my off days I usually run errands and try my best to keep up on everyday life.<br />
<br />
As some of you may know, I am an insulin dependent diabetic. I have had my troubles with it, but things have improved. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia which for the longest time I did not know what was wrong with me. Finally I am now on a medication to help with the pain that comes along with it which can be extreme some days.<br />
<br />
Writing wise I have not been doing much. I have a novelette coming out with Evernight Publishing this month. It's m/m with a dark theme. Other than that I have some things I am working on when I can.<br />
<br />
For the blog/website, I plan on having more contests. I have an overflow of books in my collection and I plan on offering some of these up very soon. So follow me if you want to know when this happens. I am on Facebook and Twitter.<br />
<br />
As for my release with Evernight, I will post more info when it comes to me.<br />

A while back MLR Press put out a call for a charity anthology to benefit Equality Florida to benefit the victims and their families of this horrific tragedy. I wanted to be a part of it so I submitted a story to them. If you can purchase a copy that would be great. All monies are going to Equality Florida as I said above. <br />
<br />

The anthology is filled with many great stories by some excellent authors. It's available in e book and paperback from Amazon, All Romance, direct from the publisher, and Bookstrand. I'll list the buy links below.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So 2015 is almost over and I am sad to say that I won't be sorry to see this year end. It hasn't been a good one for me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My health hasn't been good as some of you may know. First I have major back issues, I am diabetic and now on insulin which has been a struggle, and I am being investigated for other things since I suffer from chronic pain all over my body.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have hardly worked during the last year and I don't have sick benefits either. I also suffer from depression which has worsened since all of this has taken place. Yup, 2015 has NOT been a good year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On a up note I am thankful to have a truly wonderful husband who I absolutely love and adore. His support has been unbelievable. He is always there for me. There is also my family who have also been a great support.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Writing wise it has been an okay year. My output hasn't been that great, but I have been please with what I have had published. My sales have not been what I would like for them to have been, but that just a part of the business.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the readers who do buy my stuff, I truly thanks you. I hope you get some joy and pleasure reading about my characters and their situations. It really does me a lot to me to know that people like reading what I write.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What's next? I hope to write more of course. I am also expanding to other genres besides erotic romance and mm and menage. I plan on trying my hand again at historicals and paranormal romance. And I am taking an active role in trying to improve my health.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wish you all a great Christmas/Holiday Season and a wonderful New Year filled with joy!</div>

Below is the blurb:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Jax Hogan's life is turned upside down after receiving a call from his estranged brother asking him to return to the ranch he'd once called home to see to their ailing mother who suffers from Alzheimer's. He's hesitant since he ran away as a teen after facing years of abuse at his dad's hands. But his dad is now dead and after much thought, he decides it's in his best interest to return home to face and confront the scars of his past.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Wesley Saunders is the man in charge. He manages the ranch efficiently, but when it comes to his personal life, things are perpetually in disarray. The rough and tumble cowboy has had one nightstands, but never anything more until the cute and sexy Jax steps into his world, shaking it to the core.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
After a big loss jars them all, Jax decides to return to his old life back in the city leaving Wesley behind. It feels like the right thing to do at the time, but is it? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
When love comes knocking on his door literally, Jax is forced to make a big decision. Will he make the right one or is he destined to be alone for the rest of his </div>

The author in question writes m/m romance and was rather popular within that community with good sales or so I have been told.<br />
<br />
It's stealing. There's no other word for it. I don't understand how she could mislead her friends and fans like that. Also why did she think she would get away with it?<br />
<br />
I don't usually write posts about stuff like this and I try to stay away from the drama that sometimes pops up in the m/m romance community, but this all just stuck a nerve with me.<br />
<br />
I do hope she sees that what's she's done was wrong. I also hope that she at least tries to clear this up with the author(s) she plagiarized. That would be the decent thing to do, but time will tell as this all plays out.<br />

First and foremost while the stories are connected through the characters each can be read alone without any issues.<br />
<br />
The premise of the Opposites series is to highlight what happens when two guys meet who are total opposites, and how they overcome the obstacles that threaten to keep them from finding true love with each other. It's a theme that I love to read myself so when brainstorming the series, I thought it was worth writing since I enjoy it so much. The stories are often sweet, but they also pack a whole lot of spice within them.<br />
<br />
Below are the first three installments, and I am currently working on a forth that involves a cowboy with a past and his soon to be very unconventional love interest. I'm anticipating a few more installments depending on how the series is received. Story and adult excerpts can be found on Bookstrand's page. Most likely not work safe.<br />
<br />
Contest: I'm giving away two e copies of Barbecue and Pillow Talk(Opposites 3). All you have to do to enter is leave a comment along with your email address for contact purposes. The contest will run for one week. Comments are moderated to stomp out spam. They will take some time to show since I have to approve them. Thanks for taking the time to stop by.<br />

All books are also available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online retailers of eBooks.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Danny Lyon has never had much luck at romance. After a failed relationship drives him from his hometown, he finds his way into the city only to discover that life doesn't often turn out how you'd like.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Working at a strip club, The Treasure Chest certainly isn't his dream job, but it pays well. Everything is going along fine until he meets Terrence LeBrec, an older man who shows up one night out of the blue. Terrence is rich, laid back, and as the chemistry between them erupts, it also surprises Danny that he's attracted to a man who otherwise isn't his type.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Terrence only went to The Treasure Chest to pass away time. He never expected to meet anyone, but when Danny takes the stage, he's totally taken with the young man who he knows nothing about. He has to meet him. There's something definitely between them. Terrence can't deny it. They have a connection that he can't let go. One hookup leads him to want more.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
It doesn't take a lot of time for Danny to realize how different their lives really are. Why would a guy like Terrence who has everything going for him be interested in a guy like him? It doesn't make sense. They come from different worlds—perhaps too different.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Will what brought them together tear them apart? They're opposites in every way possible. Will love conquer all?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's that time again when I reflect on the year that's nearly over. Lots of health issues brought me down this past year. I wasn't nearly as productive in any aspect of my life as I would have liked to be. My grandmother on Mom's side of the family passed away in late August and that was also a big blow to take.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started a new series with Siren Publishing in 2014. I plan on continuing with it, but I have made the decision to step away from erotic romance for the most part. I want to concentrate on mainstream romance, and other non-romance related writing projects which as of late have fallen to the side. That doesn't mean that I will stop writing erotic romance all-together, but it won't be the sole thing that I write. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let's all hope for a great new year! Have a great one and see you in 2015!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Story Excerpt: Being out of work couldn’t have come at a worst time. With his wife and kids gone, Ben was well aware that he had too much time to sit around and think. With a little savings tucked away he wasn’t worried about money yet. Something would come along, it always did. His ability to work well with his hands came in handy since it meant being able to work at many things. Sitting back staring mindlessly at the TV, he scanned the channels looking for something interesting to watch. He settled on Three’s Company. It was the episode about the big misunderstanding. Nobody could do physical comedy like the actors on that show. God, he loved Ritter!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Sitting in just his boxer shorts and a white T-shirt, he tried not to think about the stressors that had come into his life. He desperately needed to unwind, and when the phone rang, he debated whether or not he would answer it or let the machine take it. On the third ring he reached out and picked up the receiver. “Hello.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Hey,” said the other voice on the end of the line. “It’s Craig Lindsay.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
His cheeks turned red when he thought about the attraction he’d had for that guy. “Hey, what’s up?” He hadn’t the sweetest clue as to why Craig would be calling him. He was listed in the book and that’s how he guessed that Craig got his number.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“The usual hard work and slugging it out,” Craig replied with an added laugh. “But I do have a specific reason to call you. There’s a guy who’s new to town. His name is Dave Heatherington.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“No thanks,” Ben said quickly, cutting him off. “I’m not interested and in no way ready to date or make my private life known.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Hold off, man. I’m not trying to set you up.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Ben sucked in a deep breath and exhaled slowly feeling stupid. “Sorry, I’m a little on edge.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“I guess you are. Maybe I should call back at another time?”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“No, I’m fine. Shoot.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“He bought an inn right here in town and it’s in dire need of renovations. He came into the bakery this morning and we got to talking about it. He needs help and I immediately thought of you. So I suggested to him that I’d give you a call with his details.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Give me his number. I’ll give him a call.” He reached for a pen and piece of paper. He jotted down the name and number of the inn’s owner and thanked Craig for calling. He still felt like a douche, but figured that Craig would overlook it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Ben,” Craig said. “If you need to talk or anything you can come around. I’m here pretty much all of the time or up in the apartment. I know how things can be. Just sayin’.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“The divorce came through. Rebecca’s gone off with her man and she took the kids. I knew it was going to happen, but it’s going to take me a bit to adjust.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“I didn’t know. I’m sorry to hear that. Like I said, if you ever need to talk or just a listening ear.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Craig sounded genuine and Ben knew he was a stand-up guy. Talking however, he wasn’t sure that he was at that point yet. “Thanks. Thanks for offering. I’ll keep that in mind.” He glanced down at the snippet of paper in his hand. It was potential work, and at this time what else did he have to keep his mind and body occupied. He picked up the phone. “Dave Heatherington,” he said to the air around him. “Definitely not from these parts.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
* * * *</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“It isn’t so bad,” Dave said, standing in the middle of the rather outdated country-style kitchen with its red and white gingham curtains. He put the boxes from the bakery down on the island before sitting down himself. Binging on starchy carbs and high-quality coffee would help ease his suffering momentarily, but he had to face the fact that he’d bought a bitter lemon. Firing up the coffeemaker, he glanced at the yet-to-be-opened boxes wondering how fast he could eat two cupcakes. When his cell phone vibrated against his thigh, he nearly jumped out of his skin. “Hello, this is Dave,” he answered, doing his best to sound nice and pleasant.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Hey,” said the male voice on the other end of the line. “Craig Lindsay gave me your name and number. He said that you were looking for someone to do renovations?”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“That was quick, but yes I am indeed. You are?”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Ben Charmer. That was extremely rude of me. I should have introduced myself up front before saying anything else.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
If you could judge a man’s looks based on his voice alone, Dave guessed that the man speaking was gorgeous. Already his mind was taken away from his problems as he listened to Ben speak. “That’s okay. How much did Craig tell you?”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Just that you bought an inn that needed work done with it.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“You’re experienced?” He bit down on his bottom lip right after the words left his mouth. It had been far too long since he’d had a man in his bed. “I mean, you know what you’re doing.” He cleared his throat as he waited for Ben to respond. His mind had long gone far into the gutter making him feel desperate and pathetic in so many ways.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“I do good work. I work hard. I’m very good with my hands.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“You can drop by on Monday to see what needs to be done for yourself. That’s the best thing to do.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Great,” Ben replied. There was a pause. “The address?”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Dave gave it to him before ending the call. When he placed the phone back in his pocket, he shook his head. “You’d think you never talked to a man before. Get your mind out of your pants, Heatherington. You’re starting to come across as being cheap!”</div>

They hit it off from the start. As the chemistry between them starts to sizzle, they both realize they share common life goals even though in many ways they're opposites. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
When sudden tragedy strikes. Craig is forced to face his past. From tragedy comes a chance to do the very thing he's always wanted. When offered the family bakery business, Craig jumps at the opportunity and comes to the conclusion that all things are possible with lots of hard work, even if he is unsure about certain things. He turns to Glenn, who has a great head for business. Glenn becomes his rock. The future's looking bright. All things are possible with lots of hard work and the right man at his side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Story Excerpt: “I’ve been thinking about you,” Glenn said.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Have you?” Craig walked slowly along as they made their way across the vast expanse of Terrence’s property. The place really was beautiful. It was paradise in a swanky part of the city. Of course Terrence could afford it and more if he wanted it. It was a privilege that came along with immense wealth. “I haven’t had much time to think about anything. Heading back home is going to be a struggle. I have mixed feelings about it. I know facing the past isn’t going to be easy even with Dad no longer in the picture.” He felt bad that his dad had died. After all the crap that man had put him through, he was still Craig’s father. Like it or not, that did stand for something. Without that man, he wouldn’t be here. He wouldn’t have been born, plain and simple.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“I can’t imagine how it will be for you. You seem like you’re a strong person. I don’t know you that well. This is our third time meeting?”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“I think so.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“This isn’t the right time to make a move on you. I’d never be that tacky. What I’m trying and wanting to say is that when you get back, I’d like to see you again. I want us to get to know each other better. That’s if you’re interested?”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“I’d like that.” Glenn was a nice guy. They did come from highly different backgrounds. One thing he didn’t want was to jump in bed with him right away. Not that Glenn wasn’t attractive, he was. For possibly the first time in his young life he wanted more than just a fling between the sheets. Something inside him had started to change. Maybe it was because he had witnessed what real love between two men was like seeing Danny and Terrence together? They’d made their relationship work despite the hardships between them. They didn’t allow anything or anybody to bring them down. He held the highest respect for both of them. “But I’m not sure how long I’ll be gone.” There were also things she had to take care of before leaving the city. Danny would look in on his apartment. He had a few plants that would require watering. That wasn’t a big deal. He’d have to take leave from work. He wasn’t sure how that would sit with his boss. If it came down to it, there were other places to work. Lots of places were hiring dancers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“I’ll be here when you get back. Feel free to call or text me anytime. I’m a good listener.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Craig couldn’t remember ever meeting a man like Glenn before. All of the guys that he’d been involved with one way or another in the past had been young and immature. Glenn wasn’t either. He wasn’t old. He guessed Glenn to be nearing forty give or take a few years. This man had direction in his life. And though they’d never spoken about finances, he had already guessed that Glenn also had a lot of money. “That’s good. I’ll do that when I get a chance. I’m leaving tomorrow. I want to attend the funeral. It will be awkward as hell, but I feel it’s the right thing to do. I’m pushing myself to go through with it.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“At times we all have to do that. It isn’t easy doing things that we don’t like, but it can be good for the soul.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
This man was deep. Craig mulled over what Glenn had said. He agreed with him. Like it or not, some things had to be done. “I’m glad we met. You’re not like the guys I’ve had in my life.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Glenn smiled warmly. They continued walking. “How so?”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“You’re mature.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“As in old?” Glenn raised one brow as they came to a wooden bench. He motioned for them to sit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“No, that’s totally not what I meant. Talking to you is different. So many times I feel like I’m alone in the world. Sure, I’ve talked with guys before, but it’s like they aren’t listening or interested in anything I have to say. You probably think I’m not making a lick of sense.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“You make perfect sense. Maturity comes with experience, I like to think. I’ve lived a full life so far. I haven’t much to complain about. At times things have been extremely difficult, but you have to trudge on. Giving up was and still is never an option.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
“Sound words to live by.” Chatting with Glenn made him feel better. When he felt Glenn touch his thigh, he couldn’t help but return a wide grin at the man who was now staring directly at him. They kissed. It was unlike any kiss Craig had before. It was gentle and sweet. It left him feeling incredibly warm. This moment was one to remember. He’d never forget it.</div>

I submitted it to a couple of publishers. One rejected it on content, and the other wanted a major rewrite that would have taken the whole purpose of the story away. I sat on it for a while wondering what to do with it. After much thinking I thought about self-publishing it.<br />
<br />
At first I think I went into it with blinders on. Many authors of m/m and erotic romance had already done quite well publishing their own work. There was a certain allure about it that drew me in. I think it was the control. I would decide on the cover, work with my husband with the edits and formatting, and release it when I felt it was ready to be placed out there. It was an experiment.<br />
<br />
My husband helped me a lot. He's brutal when it comes to giving me honest feedback with my writing. He's computer savvy and formatting came pretty easily for him. I did seek out a cover artist who did a great job. She took my suggestions and it really was exactly what I wanted.<br />
<br />
When everything was done, I uploaded the book to various sales sites. Sales were decent, but nothing that I would go around bragging about. This was a couple years ago and sales have trickled since then. It's selling, but not hitting the bestseller charts.<br />
<br />
After that I published another novella that again was a little bit outside the box. I also published a couple of short stories. Surprisingly, it was the short stories that sold really well. I expected my longer work to sell better than the short stuff. Go figure!<br />
<br />
The last thing I self-published was a collection of my short stories that initially I was only going to put into print to use for promo purposes such as giveaways. That also led to an e edition. All of those stories were already available for individual sale.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRlpfbIjta0bh-xuNAbjAoQs2X6tYykOHxJ53gAEU9EdIlCkyC21ZBYr7fc73nFHp9v0_S7xVGp0Iu-lcYzQ0c7TtGheTOkv4OoV0mcphxrwZap_tdytpa83vZmRE-3oCisVfH7z7cPIU/s1600/menphotiebook.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRlpfbIjta0bh-xuNAbjAoQs2X6tYykOHxJ53gAEU9EdIlCkyC21ZBYr7fc73nFHp9v0_S7xVGp0Iu-lcYzQ0c7TtGheTOkv4OoV0mcphxrwZap_tdytpa83vZmRE-3oCisVfH7z7cPIU/s1600/menphotiebook.JPG" height="226" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Did self-publishing meet my expectations? Yes and no. I honestly expected to do better. Do I blame self-publishing? No. My work seems to be hit or miss with readers. Some really like it while others really hate it. Everything I have written can be found on Amazon, All Romance, Barnes & Noble, and Bookstrand(Shameless Plug).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do I have advice for anyone wanting to self-publish? Yes. But don't release your work until you're sure it's absolutely ready. Don't rush it. It's better to put out a quality product first rather than suffer terrible reviews telling you on how you should have got an editor. And get a decent cover. It really is worth paying a talented artist to do it for you unless you are good at it yourself like some are. This is the first thing readers will see when they come across your book. First impressions matter.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Will I self-publish again? Yes. I plan on self-publishing more short stories along with some other works that are longer including a MMF menage. Overall, I enjoy the process.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am pleased to announce that the second installment in my Opposites series with Siren Publishing will be released in early October. For those who read When You Least Expect It, this will be Craig's story. Craig was introduced as Danny's best friend. Sweet Honesty is set mostly in the small town where Craig grew up. An unexpected tragedy draws him back to his roots and that's all I am going to say about that *smiles*</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you haven't checked out the first novella in the series, it's available on Amazon, Bookstrand, and Barnes and Noble. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When You Least Expect It blurb: <span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">[Siren Allure ManLove: Erotic Alternative Romance, M/M, foot fetish, HEA]</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 0.9em; margin-top: 0.5em;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Danny Lyon has never had much luck at romance. After a failed relationship drives him from his hometown, he finds his way into the city only to discover that life doesn't often turn out how you'd like.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 0.9em; margin-top: 0.5em;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Working at a strip club, The Treasure Chest certainly isn't his dream job, but it pays well. Everything is going along fine until he meets Terrence LeBrec, an older man who shows up one night out of the blue. Terrence is rich, laid back, and as the chemistry between them erupts, it also surprises Danny that he's attracted to a man who otherwise isn't his type.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 0.9em; margin-top: 0.5em;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Terrence only went to The Treasure Chest to pass away time. He never expected to meet anyone, but when Danny takes the stage, he's totally taken with the young man who he knows nothing about. He has to meet him. There's something definitely between them. Terrence can't deny it. They have a connection that he can't let go. One hookup leads him to want more.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 0.9em; margin-top: 0.5em;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">It doesn't take a lot of time for Danny to realize how different their lives really are. Why would a guy like Terrence who has everything going for him be interested in a guy like him? It doesn't make sense. They come from different worlds—perhaps too different.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; margin-bottom: 0.9em; margin-top: 0.5em;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Will what brought them together tear them apart? They're opposites in every way possible. Will love conquer all?</span></div>
