Author Mills

As of late, it appears that more and more e pubs are springing up at an alarmingly, fast rate.

It's been interesting to follow the discussions on on Absolutewrite, which is BTW a great resource for writers.

Online feuds have started on various blogs, not to mention often a thread will quickly become a trainwreck. Needless to say, it makes for one heck of an interesting read.

What's your view on this trend? And how do you suggest avoiding such author mills?

  1. My quick 'n dirty tips:

1 - Read the site carefully, keeping an eye out for shifty things (unclear descriptions, strange terms(
2 - Check with a few of the authors (if you can find a way to contact them)
3 - Check AW's Beware and Background Checks.

  3. What he said. ^^^
I've been researching publishers again. I'm amazed at all the e-only pubs out there now that weren't there a year ago. Most of my friend's blogs are nicer than their websites. :/
    AW rocks! *shameless plug*

  4. Agreed! Research is the key. And AW is the best resource in my opinion.
