The Golden Cock by Elyzabeth M. VaLey

Thank you for having me at your blog, Xondra!

1. Tell us about your latest release and what inspired you to write it.

My latest release belongs to the Evernight Publishing Naughty Fairy Tale line and is titled The Golden Cock. Based on the Grimm Brother’s Tale of The Golden Goose, it’s the story of a Vincent, a good man that after being subject to the cruelty and ridicule of his brothers receives a kind of compensation that will change his life forever.

I’m a big fairy tale lover so ever since Evernight opened its NFT line I wanted to write something for it. Inspiration struck one evening when I was arranging things in my bedroom and found an old drama script from The Golden Goose. Wouldn’t it be grand if instead of getting stuck to goose feathers people became attached to a cock?

 2. When did you start writing and what has your writing journey been like?

I've been writing since forever, but my first contracted piece was a Christmas short story titled The Sweetest Christmas Candy published by the Long and Short of it reviews, back in 2009. After that, I published a few more shorts until my first novella Teaching Alisse was picked up by Silver Publishing, the following year.

Of course, before getting a “yes” I went through a period of constant rejections that had me wondering if I could actually write. The journey has been and continues to be a process of learning and self-improvement in all areas.

3. What advice would you give to aspiring writers looking to break into the business?

Keep writing and don't give up! What's that saying? What's one man's trash is another man's treasure, so just because you get one rejection doesn’t mean your writing is bad.

 4. What will readers see next from you?

I have two upcoming releases with Evernight Publishing. Welcome Aboard is a short story that belongs to their Romance on the Go line and should release sometime in March. A Dragon's heart, a demon's blood is my paranormal urban fantasy novel that with a little luck will release in April.

BLURB:

Kind-hearted Vincent Stowe spent years with an inferiority complex until, one day, after accepting to help an older woman with an odd request he receives a life-changing gift.

“Ice Duchess” Brielle is desperate for a solution to her inability to orgasm, so when word about a man with a magical cock reaches her ears, she decides that he just might be what she needs.

Will Vincent’s "Golden Cock" be enough for the "Ice Duchess", or will something else come to play along the way?

Be Warned: multiple partners, MFM, FFM, m/m sex, f/f sex

Ending the Hunger

This is my first blog post for 2013. It isn't about resolutions or anything like that. It's about something that I think is important. Too often we bitch about how terrible the world can be. But we can do things to make it better. It doesn't have to be anything huge. Over the past year I started donating to our local foodbank on a regular basis. It's just been a couple of items dropped in the box at the local supermarket. Over the holidays me and the hubby also did a couple of cash donations. Again, it wasn't anything huge since we're on a tight budget ourselves. But giving what we could did give us a sense we were doing something helpful.

The foodbank hits home for me. I've never had to use it, but I've had close friends in the past who have. The fact is that hunger is all around us and closer than you may think. Usually after the holidays the foodstocks are down at most foodbanks. Consider a donation no matter how small. A little help can go further than you think.

I'll step off my soap box now.

Happy New Year,

On Christmas and the End of Another Year

Growing up, my family didn't go big with Christmas. We decorated, and had the usual turkey along with all the trimmings. But that was it except for visiting some of our extended family. I guess that tradition has continued on with me and my husband.

Above is our small tree in all its holiday splendour! Our apartment is a little on the small side. We don't have the room for a big one, so we make the best use out of our limited space. We will do Christmas dinner with the turkey. And of course, we'll probably end up eating too much, and complaining about it later.

I'm working throughout Christmas, but it's my year to work. I look forward to having it off again next year. Many people would dread working through the holidays, but in my line of work we never close for anything.

When this time of the year rolls around, I often stop and think about years gone by. Some memories are happy while others are not. It's a case of taking the good with the bad, and I always remind myself that I have a lot to be thankful for. There is so much pain in this world. My life isn't so bad. I have a job, a place to live with food, and I do have my family. My health is getting better, so really, what else does a person need?

When I look back on my writing career over the past year, I'm thankful for each word written. Some releases have sold extremely well. It still amazes me to think that there are readers out there buying my stories. I don't think that feeling will ever go away.

This coming year I plan to break out further with my writing. And while I will still write erotic romance, I'm planning to go back to my roots to pursue other genres that I have long loved. I'm excited and looking forward to seeing what's around the next corner. Let's hope it's a wonderful year for us all.

Thank you one and all for your support. Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New year,
